About Army ROTC

University of North Florida Army ROTC was first established in 1972 and on average commissioned 18 Cadets per year. Due to budget cuts and military downsizing UNF Army ROTC was disbanded in 1996. In January 2009, UNF Army ROTC was restarted under the command of LTC Benjamin Jones with seven cadets and one cadre. Since, UNF has become the fastest growing program in the country by more than doubling its size every semester since opening. In fall 2009, UNF increased in size to 25 cadets and three cadre. In spring 2010, UNF doubled once again with current enrollment at 56 Cadets and five cadre. The spring also brought an exciting time with UNF expanding its program to three other campuses in the Jacksonville area and currently holds affiliate agreements with , , and . UNF Army ROTC also works with the .
